Monochrome Laser Printer

Printer Code : IBM 4324 Network Printer
The concept of multiple original printing (mopying) instead of copying was made a reality with the introduction of HP's LaserJet 5Si. The idea behind mopying is to help create a more efficient office work environment by streamlining printing and document reproduction needs into one machinethe printer. With the 5Si printers, HP set a precedent for the industry by showing businesses that they can print multiple original copies from the printer both economically (about a penny a page) and fast (24 pages per minute [ppm]).

In May 1998, HP released the LaserJet 8000 as the replacement for the 5Si. The 8000 was based on the same print engine and featured a more powerful controller, but otherwise offered very few changes from the 5Si. The performance features stayed the same: 24 ppm on letter-size paper, 600 x 600 dpi resolution, same paper handling capabilities, and the same toner cartridge.
